We Support in Multiple Ways..

At The Reading Tray, our work begins and ends with children in our local communities. We support children by increasing access to books, delivering creative, child-led literacy experiences, and creating spaces where every child feels confident, included, and heard. By working closely with schools, families, and community partners, we respond to real local needs and help children build a lasting relationship with reading and storytelling.

Brand New Book Donation Drives

Book ownership plays a vital role in developing literacy, confidence, and a lifelong love of reading. However, many children still have limited or no access to books in the home. Our book donation programme is designed to address this gap in a sustainable and inclusive way.

We purchase brand-new books at cost price, working directly with printers and publishers wherever possible. This approach ensures that funding and donations are used efficiently, allowing us to place more books directly into the hands of children without compromising on quality. All donated books are new, high-quality publications that children can keep and return to again and again.

Inclusion sits at the heart of our selection process. We are intentional about sourcing and creating books that reflect a diverse range of cultures, family structures, experiences, and identities, so children can see themselves represented in the stories they read. Where appropriate, book selections are tailored to the communities we work with, ensuring relevance, sensitivity, and meaningful engagement.

By combining cost-effective purchasing with thoughtful, inclusive curation, our book donation model maximises impact while maintaining dignity, representation, and choice for every child who receives a book
